Four Berry Crisp

Made with Heeman's Strawberries + Heeman's Raspberries + Heeman's Blueberries

1 1/2 cups
375 ml
Each of four fruits (6 cups/1.5L total):
Strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, peaches, apples, sour cherries
3/4 cup
175 ml
Flour
3/4 cup
175 ml
Rolled oats
3 tbsp
Oil
3/4 cup
175 ml
Brown sugar
1/3 cup
75 ml
Chopped nuts (optional)

Enjoy the best of summer with this fruit crisp that allows you to pick and choose your favourite fruits of summer/fall. Combine berries with the other fruits available to create endless flavour possibilities. This recipe works with fresh, frozen or canned fruits.

 

Step 1

Mix together fruit and pour into 10 inch/25-cm deep-dish pie pan. Alternatively, the fruits can be cooked with 1/4 cup/60 mL water, 1/4-1/2 cup/ 60 mL sugar (depending on the sweetness of the fruit) and 2 tablespoons cornstarch to thicken before baking.

Step 2

Mix remaining ingredients together until crumbly ( flour, rolled oats, oil, sugar and optional nuts). Evenly sprinkle topping over fruit.

Step 3

Bake in preheated oven at 375°F/ 190°C until fruit bubbles and top is golden brown, about 30 minutes; may take longer if using frozen fruit.

 

  • This recipe works well with fresh, frozen or canned fruits. If you do not have four kinds of berries or fruit then just use more of the same kind so that you have 6 cups of fruit in total. Be sure and adjust the amount of sugar to the sweetness of the fruit.
  • If adding water, sugar and cornstarch and precooking; a real fruit juice of orange, cranberry, cranberry-raspberry or cranberry-grape substituted for the water gives and extra punch of flavour to the fruit crisp.
