Great supply of strawberries, daily. Lots of fresh peaches & sweet corn too.

Strawberry season is now kicking into the everbearing season with Albion being picked daily in great supply. Available daily (weather permitting) starting at 9 am.

Fresh Peaches (from Kai Weins Farms in Niagara-on-the-Lake), Sweet Corn (from the Aarts family in Kintore) and Watermelon (from the Howe family in Aylmer) are also in season and available in good supply.

Raspberries are between crops, our July bearing varieties are finished and our Fall bearing are still growing. We are picking a very limited amount of a special container-grown variety of raspberries. They’re picked regularly but the demand is far greater than supply. Until late August, it will be pretty hard to get fresh raspberries reliably.

You can purchase fresh produce at the Drive-Thru or Berry Counter daily (weather permitting). Drive-Thru is open 7-days a week 9 am-5 pm (weather permitting). The Berry Counter is open during all our posted hours.

Pick Your Own Strawberries is closed for the 2021 season. Thank you to everyone that came to the berry patch! For more details, check our PYO page here.

Note: this page is not updated daily, it’s a general overview of where the season is as at and what’s available. For updates in hourly/daily availability, it’s best to call the Berry Hotline or store.

Watermelon

Watermelon
$3.00-6.00/each

Biting into a slice of watermelon sure is a great way to beat the heat in the height of summer. We have locally grown watermelons from our friends, the Howe Family in Aylmer. Seedless, Sugar Baby & Mini watermelons available now.

Pumpkins

Pumpkins
In Season

Fall wouldn’t be complete without pumpkins. We always have locally grown pie pumpkins as well as medium and jack-o-lantern sized pumpkins available. We also have been known to have some funky coloured and odd shaped pumpkins too.

Garlic

Garlic
$2.5/each
$10/pint of 5

Garlic is one of those crops that has a very clear and noticeable difference in flavour and quality from locally grown vs. imported. We source local garlic from the Brant County Garlic Farm and the quality is fantastic. Grown in SW Ontario, it has big flavour so often you can reduce how much you use (to get the same flavours in your dishes vs. imports) or turn up the flavour in your favourite meals!

Apples

Apples
$10/8 lb bag
In Season

Heeman’s carries a limited number of apples from the end of August through to the end of October. Traditionally we carry a quality apple for cooking and one that is great for eating. As we are unable to grow apples at our location due to the frigid winters we experience we get fresh apples from our friends at Delhaven Orchards in Blenheim.

We carry Gala, Cortland, Honeycrisp and Jonamac (while each is in season).

Pears

Bartlett pears are a popular pear available from late-August until early October. These pears are popular for eating fresh and canning, as well as for desserts. They are green and crunchy when picked and turn a golden yellow when they ripen. Our fresh pears are from our friends at Delhaven Orchards in Blenheim.

Raspberries

Raspberries
$5.25/pint
$52.50/flat (10 pints)
In Season

We’ve been growing raspberries for over two decades and find they’re a wonderful compliment to our strawberries. Raspberries are usually in season from Canada Day and last for the month of July however we also have everbearing raspberries!

Everbearing raspberries are in season at the end of July and continue to fruit until the first hard frost, usually late October, just like our everbearing strawberries. That means for those avid raspberry fans a trip to our farm will earn you fresh picked raspberries for nearly four months!

Raspberries are sold in pints and in flats of 10 pints.

Sweet Corn

Sweet Corn
$4.00/half dozen
$8.00/baker's dozen
In Season

Fresh sweet corn has a taste you can’t beat and the corn at Heeman’s is the freshest around! That’s because we have it delivered field fresh every day from Aarden Farms, just a few roads over from us, we refrigerate it immediately and pull it out right before you buy it. Normally in season sometime in July and available until Thanksgiving!

Keeping sweet corn cool is the trick to great taste. It slows the sugars from converting to starch. Also, keeping the husk on the cob for as long as you can, right up until cooking will lock in the freshness and flavour! We love working with the Aarts family because they share our obsession with flavourful, fresh local food! They’ve been our trusted sweet corn supplier for years. With the latest varieties and by using a raised bed and irrigation, sweet corn is usually in season from mid-July available until early October.

Frozen Cherries

Frozen Cherries
$35.00/Sweet
$25.00/Sour
In Season

If you love cherries and want to enjoy them all year long there is no better way then to get yourself a pail or two (or five) of freshly picked and pitted cherries. We offer pails of sweet or sour cherries that come with pits and stems removed in 10 pound pails. If you prefer your cherries fresh and not frozen (it’s easier to transfer into smaller containers), we take orders at the beginning of the season. You can request cherries with or without sugar. We do carry frozen pails through the season and into winter.

Our pails of cherries come from Delhaven Orchards in Blenheim where they’re grown. You can call us at 519-461-1416 to place your order for pails through the first three weeks of July.

* Sorry, there are no pails of sweet cherries this year.
